Outreach Programs
Visiting Artists Walden Media believes that films and ancillary materials are only the beginning. True education relies on gifted people communicating their passion and knowledge. We recommend that teachers consider inviting an artist to their classroom either for a one-time visit or for a longer-term residency. Working with an artist not only connects students with the creativity, discipline and mastery of diverse traditions that an art form like music demands, but also offers them an alternate approach to conventional teaching methods.
With 31 chapters across the United States, the leading network of visiting artist programs is Young Audiences. (www.youngaudiences.org) If your region is not represented, or you are looking for further information on how to use music in the classroom, visit The National Association for Music Education at: www.menc.org.
