PULSE: A STOMP ODYSSEY CAPTURES TOP TWO AWARDS AT PRESTIGIOUS LE GOEDE FILM FESTIVAL

New Large-Format Film from the Creators Of STOMP Collects Festival's Grand Prize and Public's Choice Award

Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey, the new large-format film release from the creators of STOMP, continued to gather critical acclaim this week in Paris, receiving La Geode International Film Festival’s Grand Prize as well as its France Inter Public Choice Prize.

For the Grand Prize, a jury of filmmaking professionals recognized Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey as the top film out of ten total, and the Public Choice Prize represents the public audience’s selection for best film from the festival’s approximate 30,000 attendees.

Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey is a celebration of the global beat, an exploration of the sights and sounds of continents and cultures, guided by the internationally acclaimed performers of the sensational stage show STOMP. Audiences will travel a world brought brilliantly alive on the large-format screen and will discover the universal language of rhythm.

The film is a unique and extraordinary large-format film experience – a visual and auditory celebration of diversity and culture, rhythm and humanity. It introduces audiences to percussion groups from locales and backgrounds as disparate as Timbalada of Brazil to the Kodo drummers of Japan, from the American Indian Dance Theater to the Jackie Robinson Steppers of New York.

Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey premiered at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City in October 2002, where it has enjoyed a successful and exclusive engagement. In addition to the ongoing run in New York, the film will premiere at the following locations domestically beginning in early 2003: the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus, the Museum of Science in Boston, the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, the Sci-Port Discovery Center in Shreveport, the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry in Portland, the Museum of Discovery & Science in Fort Lauderdale, the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix, the Fort Worth Museum in Texas, the Lied Museum in Hastings, the Exploris Museum in Raleigh, the Charleston IMAX Theater in South Carolina, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, and the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

Pulse: a STOMP Odyssey will also premiere at the following locations internationally this year: the British Film Institute in London, the Birmingham Cinegrand IMAX Theater in England, the Bournemouth IMAX Theater in England, the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne, the Melbourne IMAX Theater in Australia, the Sydney IMAX Theater in Australia. By virtue of its award as the Public’s Choice, the film also has garnered a lengthy programming engagement at La Geode in Paris.
